# Health systems

> These are the health system families Connect includes, and what can differ from one organization to the next.

A health system is the hospital, clinic, or insurer that holds a patient's records.

## Families in Connect

| Family | Details |
| --- | --- |
| Epic | [Epic](/integrations/epic) |
| Oracle Health (Cerner) | [Oracle Health](/integrations/oracle-health) |
| athenahealth | [athenahealth](/integrations/athenahealth) |
| eClinicalWorks / healow | [eClinicalWorks / healow](/integrations/eclinicalworks-healow) |
| MEDITECH Expanse | [MEDITECH](/integrations/meditech) |
| Veradigm / Allscripts | [Veradigm](/integrations/veradigm-allscripts) |
| Medicare Blue Button 2.0 | [Blue Button](/integrations/medicare-blue-button) |

The [integrations directory](/integrations) also lists other patient-access families, such as NextGen, Greenway, PointClickCare, and Elation Health. Their detail pages are still being written.

Whether a patient can connect a given organization also depends on FinchNode's registration with it. If one isn't available, Connect tells the patient.

## What differs by organization

A supported family doesn't mean every organization in it behaves the same.

- **What they publish.** Each organization chooses which FHIR resources and history it exposes.
- **What the patient approves there.** FinchNode asks the health system only for what your categories need, where it supports that. Some permissions cover more than one category; labs and vitals both come from Observation. Either way, your app reads only the categories the patient shares with it.
- **Ongoing access.** Some organizations allow continuous sync; others allow one import.

Handle a partial import and categories that come back empty. See [Freshness, partial and stale records](/docs/records/freshness).

## Medicare Blue Button

Blue Button returns what CMS holds for a Medicare beneficiary: claims and coverage, plus basic demographics. It isn't a clinical record from an EHR.
